What venue(s) will be a part of the festival?
Our venue will be the Midvale Performing Arts Center. It is about a 20 min drive from the Salt Lake City airport. The theater seats about 250 people and is close to multiple hotels.
What lodging options are available?
We are looking into finding deals with hotels. Until then please email us if you would like support finding accommodations.
What transportation options are available?
Salt Lake City is very much a driving city. We will have a contact sheet of locals that are willing to give rides to those in need. Last year most people drove or rented cars.
What dining options are available?
There are many fantastic dining options close to the theater. We will provide a list of recommended locations upon check in.
What local events or attractions are available?
We will have a packed schedule of festival activities during the days as well as a list of popular attractions available upon check in.
Festival Information
How much stage time will performers receive?
typically teams will get 20-25 min to do their set. more time may be allowed to specific sets. Additional performances are available by submitting to be part of our ensemble show.
What is the range of shows and styles the festival is seeking?
We are open to any style and format. As long as it is improvised it will be considered. We like to create a diverse festival in both performers and styles.
What is the local improv scene like?
You get a different anwser depending on who you ask. There are many local improv teams in the area and each one has their own unique audience.
What are the festival's goals?
The Wasatch Improv Festival strives to bring light to the many different forms of improv and give a stage to its performers. Through activities, teaching, and shows, it is the goal of the Festival to grow the love of this craft and present a true “Yes, and” experience to all who participate, whether through performing or as an audience.
What are the selection criteria for this festival?
All submissions are viewed and selected by a board. We look for shows that are unique, entertaining, and compliant with our mission.
What unique improv experiences will performers gain?
We work really hard to make sure every performer feels welcome and part of our community. Feedback from our past festival highlighted our amazing local audience, our great workshops, and fun social activities.
The Wasatch Improv Festival will consist of workshops, activities, and performances by some of the best talent from near and far.
