What venue(s) will be a part of the festival?

The festival will take place at AS220 in two side by side venues. A 75 seat blackbox, and as an 80 seat venue that are right next to each other. Both venues are great for improv and allow the opportunity to feel like a festival with the ability to see many shows. The venues are centrally located to all downton Providence Hotels.


What lodging options are available?

There are many hotels located in Downtown Providence within walking distance of the venue. The Hilton Providence, The Omni Providence Hotel, The Dean Hotel, Hilton Garden Inn Providence, Providence Biltmore, Hotel Providence, Courtyard Providence Downtown. Prices vary from $180-$260 per night. There are hotels that are cheaper in neighboring cities like Warwick, RI (near PVD airport) and Seekonk, MA which is about a 10-15 minute drive from downtown Providence.


What transportation options are available?

The airport is about a 15 minute ride on the highway and 9 miles to downtown Providence. There are taxis and Ride Transportation services immediately available.


What dining options are available?

Providence is a great place to find delicious food. There are many fantastic restaurants in walking distance of the venue and hotels including amazing italian food in Federal Hill. If your group is selected we will recommend many of the restaurants that are delicious, fun, and in a good price range.


What local events or attractions are available?

There is plenty of nightlife and fun things to do in Providence, concert venues, the Providence Place Mall, and during the weekend of the fest there will be a lighting of the waterfires. www.waterfire.org.

How much stage time will performers receive?

Each "non-local" team will receive at least 20 minutes of stage time.


What is the range of shows and styles the festival is seeking?

The Providence Improv Fest likes to take a mixture of all styles, formats and all things that make up the awesome variety of improv.


What is the local improv scene like?

The local improv scene is fantastic here. Rhode Island is an hour long driving distance and within the area you can find organizations like The Providence Improv Guild, Improv Jones, The Bit Players, The Contemporary Theatre, Pipes, Bring Your Own Improv, Wage House Theater, and the Everett Theatre performing shows on a regular basis to all sorts of crowds..


What are the festival's goals?

Our goal for the fest is to create a fun atomosphere with a festival feel, celebrating improv. We try to keep the cost down for performers as we only charge an initial submission fee to the fest and no extra fees once accepted. We want to give performers opportunities to bond at shows, workshops, and afterparties while offering a mixture of all styles of local and national acts.


What unique improv experiences will performers gain?

Providence is special because all events are located close together. There are always fun things to explore in Providence as there is a rich culture of Arts, Music, Food, and fun throughout the city.




The Providence Improv Festival is produced by Providence Improv, a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to educating the public in the art form of improvisation theater through performance, classes and other community outreach throughout Providence and surrounding areas.
