Adria's Info
Adria has been teaching improv to scientists for more than ten years. She performs regularly with CatCave9 in Lausanne. Current passions: metaphorical long-form and podcasting.Adria did her theater training in the Bay Area of California, studying at Shakespeare Santa Cruz, and American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, with vocal training with Kathryn Adkins and improvisation training with Clifford Henderson. In 2006 in New York City, Adria founded her first science-theater collective, The Rockefeller University Improvisational Theater Group. It was in Caspary Auditorium that a group of scientist-actors performed Anna Ziegler’s Photograph 51, a play about the discovery of the structure of DNA. In 2012 Adria founded The Catalyst in Lausanne. Since then she directed and produced Puppet Theories and An Enemy of the People, she produced, managed and acted in Blue Butterfly, and she continues to grace the stage as a member of CatCave9. She has also lead and/or been involved in most Catalyst projects including Science Slams, FameLab, Exposure Science Film Hackathon, the Mysteres de l'UNIL, and the Parasite Escape Game at the museum of Zoologie in Lausanne.
In addition to her work with The Catalyst, Adria has also been highly involved in TEDxLausanne, as a speaker coach, emcee, and/or curator from late 2012 through the 2016 event. In this capacity, she has coached many speakers including professors and business people from UNIL, HEC, UniNe, IMD, and the Weizmann Institute, one of whom went on to speak at TEDGlobal. She has also taught at HEC Lausanne and for CUSO.
