Jonathan is passionate about the art of improvisation. He has been improvising for over 30 years, across diverse styles, forms, and genres. He has been directing and teaching improvisation on a regular basis for over 20 years and has taught hundreds of improvisation workshops in New Zealand, Argentina, Australia, Canada and England.
A former TheatreSports Cranston Cup champion, Jonathan spent close to 20 years in Sydney where he was a regular performer and teacher across multiple improv groups.
In 2015, he returned to his homeland and founded Christchurch’s Impulse Theatre. In the past three years the company has grown rapidly with regular shows and classes. Jonathan teaches twice a week, as well as directing and performing in Impulse Theatre’s shows.
Jonathan has conceived a number of popular show formats that have appeared at fringe festivals and improvisation festivals in New Zealand and Australia. These include “Strangers”, “Mask Life”, and “Off Book: The Musical”.
