Monika has taught improv at Upright Citizens Brigade, Second City, Nerdist, workshops at IO, and at improv festivals across North America and Asia. Monika was the Artisitc Directoy of the Nerdist theatre as well.Monika has written the curriculum at Second City, Nerdist, and for acting schools in Los Angeles, Texas, Florida, Boston as well as internationally for movie production companies across Asia. She wrote the curriculum and started the first long-form improv and sketch school in China. She has directed numerous touring sketch shows in Beijing, as well as performed her one-woman improv show there.
Monika Smith has been on a bunch of shows on Starz, HBO, CBS, TBS, Comedy Central, ABC, Spike TV, MTV and more. She’s written and directed comedy for tv, internet and stage, and has performed improv on a number of tv shows.
Monika started improvising in Toronto touring with The Second City Touring Company, was on 4 harold teams, a maude team, and 6 house teams at UCBLA. She was the Artistic Director of Nerdist and has performed internationally on numerous indie teams at UCBNY, Second City LA, iO Chicago, iO West, Theatre Sports, indie theatres and comedy festivals where she has taken her solo improv show.
