Myles's Info
I took my first improvisation class when I was 10 in Orlando, Florida. It was a theater class and I had a big personality even at that age. I have not stopped performing. Theater and improv has taken me all over the country from Florida to Seattle to Texas to NYC, where I lived for 10 years. I studied at UCB and Magnet Theaters in NYC. I as well, took a pivotal improv class with Matt Smith in Seattle when I was living there. In 2010, I came to Boulder, CO to get an MFA in Contemporary Performance, which was one of the best things I did in my career. The type of work that I do is a combination of clown, physical theater, experimental and traditional styles.Right now, I teach improvisation at Boulder Improv Collaborative. I co-designed the curriculum and coach individuals and teams.
My workshops focus on long form and short form.
The long form workshops focus on being in a 'lab' setting and working in the moment, slowing down and having genuine interactions with teammates. This also includes proximity and touching. I also focus on the backline and its use and gifts that it has to offer. I love working with all levels of teams and even teams that are not improvisors, such as Marketing teams and educational teams. My workshops are a 'start where you are', and then jumping and seeing where things go.
The short form workshops focus on games and the working experiment of 'How to Fail Brilliantly'. Being able to let go and basic concepts of 'yes and...', trust and making the other person look great.
And of course, so you know, I've been performing regularly in Boulder and Denver, both in a duet called, "A Fine Bromance" and a solo performance called Onesy.
My website, www.thepresenceacademy.com will launch later this month...stay tuned.

"I am so grateful to Myles for introducing me to my new passion for improv! She has the gift of being able to guide and encourage new students in the art of improv in a way that challenges them, and yet allows them to learn with openness and kindness. " - Chuck Shultz, retired
"Myles is a natural leader who brings a wealth of knowledge to her classes she teaches. Her immediate feedback, quick thinking and creativity helped me accept my own failures, gain confidence and learn how to use “yes, and” in everyday life." - Janie Melley-Stafford, Psychotherapist
"Myles was always checking in with me and she wrote a very thorough mid-point evaluation of my progress halfway through the class reminding me of my strengths and what needed more attention. By the end of the class, I’m happy to say that I really, “came out of my shell” and I’ve learned to be more spontaneous in responding creatively to others. I still have work to do, but I’ve definitely improved thanks to Myles!" - Paul McCarthy, Computer Engineer
