Alan's Info

Alan Baranowski was Del Close’s assistant director for his experimental workshop in the 70’s that helped lay the ground work for “The Harold”. He was in the forefront of creating the first purely improvised shows in Chicago and helped set in to motion what became the Chicago improv scene. With Del Close he produced and directed the first Chicago improv group outside of Second City, The Reification Company as well as many other groups in and around Chicago. He also hosted the first improv jam night at Zanies’ Comedy Club in Chicago.

After a extended absence form the improv world he is returning with what he refers to as "Old School Improv". Alan specializes in a more serious theatrical scenic and narrative long form improvisation focusing on character and relationship.
