Sal's Info
I've been infatuated with comedy for the entirety of my memorized history. I couldn't say when the first time I saw improv was because I imbibed so much of it, so often since then, it feels like it's been forever. I've been an improviser myself since '07, when I started playing with my high school troupe, Catawumpus. We'd put on mostly after-school shows for the theater clique and people's parents. On occasion, we basked in the glory of getting a slot in a local bookstore or cafe and the chance to play for their unwitting patrons. In college, me and a few other frosh teamed up with the remnants of the late comedy club to form a new enclave called the Miscellaneous Imports. We started a new club (which has survived 8 years so far), got in trouble with the authorities, and even home grew a couple new troupes. We played across Western NY, making friends with our collegiate counterparts at their local tournaments and festivals. During our own invitational, we even had the lucky chance to put on a set for almost 4,000 people.
Presently, I'm playing out of Buffalo, NY. I play with Comedy Sportz and am also a coach for our High School League. Dream Cheese, my long form team, has been together since Nov '16. We run a monthly show, dotComedy, inspired by the wonderful and terrible things (and people) that can be found on the World Wide Web. Some of us also have the habit of driving thousands of miles forth and back across the country to play in festivals wherever they may be. I hope to see you around one of these festivals, or in the comfort of your very own city.
Please feel free to get in touch with me about checking out the scene in Buffalo, should your path ever lead you here.
