Up In The Attic formed in 2015 when a group of students taking class together at the Providence Improv Guild decided they really loved performing together and didn't want to stop! We are called Up In The Attic because every week since we formed we climb a rickety ladder up into an attic to practice. What an original concept!
We are committed to constant practice and growth of our craft in order to put on the best possible shows for our audience. We are an awesomely diverse group that creates rich and fun characters that we play with, bring back and weave throughout our scene work. Our energy and drive to always have fun is always visible and contagious!
We call our form "The Heater" it looks and feels at times like a Harold, but it's not quite. It's like a Harold without the guard rails. It's built off of strong source scenes that are used to propel and inspire the rest of the show and before you know it the show heats up, delivers and finishes. We utilize group games for energy and inspiration as well as scene paints and mixed edits to add a fun, rich and layered performance. What you will notice the most through every show is we have the most fun together with each other and the audience!
We have performed in a number of Improv fests since forming, Providence Improv Fest (2015, 2016, 2017), Hartford Improv Fest 2017, Ocean State Improv Fest 2017, and the Del Close Marathon (2017). In the summer of 2017 we headlined our own tour called the "Out Of the Attic Tour" and we have become a regular and featured group of Wage House.
