About Scanners
Eric Storie and Shane Carey met in The Torch Theatre's Level 1 and soon noticed that the chemistry of their scenes tended toward intense emotional tugs-of-war. Recognizing that as a different starting point than the desire to be funny, Scanners formed with the intent of discovering more of the full emotional and theatrical spectrum available to improv. Our favorite movies take us to places where one event can be both comedic and tragic, unresolved arguments can become life-or-death situations, and The Day Nothing Happened can still be the most meaningful day in a character's life; Scanners look for the opportunity to bring all of that and more into improvised shows.
