Character Inside and Out
Beyond common ways of talking about stage acting, the word “character” refers to the inner qualities of the self that guide perceptions of others’ behavior. Thinking about character in this way points us toward exploring the many different avenues of our point of view. Playing a character is about having character and amplifying those aspects of self that can illuminate your point of view. In this workshop we go to great lengths to tap into your personal constitution as relational being. Along the way, we'll untangle the relationship between our character and our selves as the performer. One thing we'll really focus on is find character organically by paying attention to how the others find character in us. Through different exercises and brief scenework you'll become more adept at performing characters that truly live in the realities of scenes.
