Trust and Listening: The Essentials

I believe these are the two most important qualities for any improviser. Trust in yourself, your scene partner, your team, your form, your audience, and listen to your audience, your team, your scene partner, and yourself. Forcing yourself to do these two things will make every scene you do better. Always be present, and never give up. If you do that, any terrible premise can lead to an amazing scene.
