COMMITTING TO THE CHARACTER
Committing to the Character. The objective of this workshop is to get improvisers to focus on creating original characters, and committing 100% to these characters on stage. First hour, the students will be space walking in order to find characters through movement and sound. Halfway thru the workshop the improvisers will create a character inspired by a friend or loved one. Once they've embodied that character I hold a town hall meeting with them for roughly 30-45 min, expecting them to hold their character the entire time. Throughout the town hall meeting they'll be interacting with each other, and giving their opinions on a wide variety of topics (from politics to pop culture). After the meeting is over everyone will drop their character and discusses their experiences.
