Get your game on
What is game? The game is the thing that we find valuable enough to play, to commit to and to repeat. There are many ways to play game but they are all boiled down to the same thing: Agreement of set circumstances, reality and or behavior. If we can agree on the reality and really live in it then we can begin to play a game. There can be a game of the scene, which is built on certain circumstances that would be repeated. There can also be a character game which is much more manageable because if they have a certain behavior then we should assume they will always have that behavior. Play your circumstances and or play your behavior. If you do this, then what else do you do (that would compliment said behavior or be in the same line as said behavior). You can emotionally advance, physically advance or conceptually advance, your choice. Through a few long form improv examples, exercises and breaking down the elements of the scene we can come up with a common language that will help guide us to the most fun game play we can have collectively.
