Say What You See

Improv is a visual art. We are creating shapes and images onstage - with our bodies and our words - that can immediately create associations in the minds of our audience. Yet onstage under the pressure of performance we can often miss these beautiful gifts and search for ideas rather than noticing what we already have. And as a scene goes on, when we might feel lost or unsure what to do, the panicked brain can again start trying to "make something happen", forgetting that we've already created an entire visual space in the mind's eye. A space that's rich with opportunities for further exploration. When we engage our visual imaginations, our scenes become richer, more grounded, more satisfying and at the same time feel completely effortless. This workshop will explore ways to engage the visual imagination, to share what we see with our fellow players, and to be inspired by each other. Suitable for beginners and intermediate players looking to enrich their current work.
