SHOW!!! Don't tell.

Before we developed language, humans communicated solely with grunts and.... physicality. Physicality is what transports us, and the audience, to another world; it enables us to endow ourselves with age or youth; it allows us to become a mystical creature, display the heat from the sun, the cold in the air, fear, happiness: it allows us to truly make believe. Despite this, we often rely predominately on the words we say to drive an improv scene rather than our body. This workshop hopes to fix that. In this workshop we will explore the full range of motions that exist within us, while learning a myriad of movement techniques: biomechanics, dance, miming, puppetry, and mask work. Each will help unlock your body's inner voice and teach you new types of movement that you can bring to your performances. These methods will then be applied to our improv scenes, practicing how to endow your scenes with specificity and, ultimately, learn to talk with only your body.
