The Midnight Society

Running from 1990-1996 (and then revived from 1999-2000), the Canadian/American teen horror anthology "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" was a mainstay of early 90's Nickelodeon (though really SNick) programming. The cable series treated young teen protagonists as young adults, tackling the supernatural, paranormal, and eerie as engines for the heroes to become full-fledged, well-rounded adults. In this workshop, we deep dive into creating fully improvised 22 minute episodes in the style of AYAotD, tackling the stories will respect, using the full palette of creepy horror that defined the show. Participants are encouraged to watch at least one episode prior to class; bag of sparkling powder is optional.
