Athletes of the Emotions: Rasaboxes for Improvisors
Performers in sports will practice and hone their craft, and so must performers of the stage. In this workshop we will explore the different levels and physicalities of emotional commitment. Developed by NYU professor Richard Schechner, rasaboxes is a technique that exercises performers on eight primary emotional states. Because we are all athletes of our own craft, we will play with every kind of level of emotional commitment and use this technique as a way to fuel our characters in improvised scene work. What does it feel like to be happy in your toes? Disgust through your breath? Let's find out! Please bring a water bottle and clothes that are easy to move in.
