About Impro Theatre
Impro Theatre and it's Impro Studio are the home of narrative and genre improvisation in Los Angeles. Impro Theatre was created in 2006. Since then they have performed at such prestigious venues as the Pasadena Playhouse, the Broad Stage, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts and Garry Marshall's Falcon Theatre. Writing about Impro Theatre, American Theatre Magazine said, “These virtuosic talents simply are as superhuman as they seem. These serious professional actors, classically trained, can write on their feet better than many writers can type at a desk. Impro’s work has taught me to demand more from the theatre." Los Angeles Times calls Impro Theatre, “Amazing! One of the funniest evenings in town. The troupe spins an entire play into comedy gold right before your eyes.” Impro’s shows have been consistently honored with “Ovation Recommended” and “Critic’s Picks” with sold-out shows all over the world, and they were recently named by LAist as one of the 12 Best Theatre Companies in Los Angeles.
Impro Theatre is an Unscripted Repertory Company that has brought innovative, unscripted theatre to Los Angeles and the world. The company’s goal is to take core narrative and style elements of great playwrights and writers, and create a new play using no more than the essence of an author’s work and an audience suggestion. Most recently, unscripted explorations of great literary figures has included Shakespeare, Dickens, Stephen Sondheim, and Tennessee Williams. Our venue the Impro Studio presents shows ranging from Theatresports to narrative genre productions including Chekhov, Twilight Zone, Horror, and Dorothy Parker UnScripted. As well as student productions in the style of Game of Thrones, YA Dystopia, Star Trek Next Gen and many, many more! For more, visit www.ImproTheatre.com.
