ComedySportz was started in 1984 in Milwaukee, WI, by Dick Chudnow, who based it on the competitive Theatresports improvisational techniques of Keith Johnstone from Calgary, Alberta. Expansion began with the addition of Madison, WI, in 1985. The first Comedy League of America Tournament was held in 1988, with 10 teams participating. CLA was reorganized in 2000 into the World Comedy League. In 2014, the name was changed to CSz Worldwide, with 25 teams, including Manchester, U.K and Berlin, Germany.
CSz Houston was founded in 1990 by Dianah Dulany. The foundation of our company is the show we call ComedySportz. Since opening in the River Café in Montrose, we've played continuously to sold-out houses. Our Loyal Fans have followed us from the River Café, to Treebeards downtown in 1994, to Lambert Hall in 1998, to our very own home arena on Town & Country Boulevard in 2004, and now to our temporary home at the Queensbury Theatre. Now celebrating over 25 years, we are the longest running show in Houston.
